Hone your craft in the Thistle Academy
Outstanding training and learning.
Supporting people to live good lives
More than care: a craft rooted in citizenship, inclusion and community.
At Thistle, our colleagues care but they are so much more than “carers”. They stand with disabled people and people with long‑term health conditions as they pursue the lives they want, despite the barriers of discrimination and exclusion.
We believe everyone has the right to be an active citizen. To be included. To be connected. We call this person-centred support: designing our work around what truly matters to each individual..
It can be transformational, rewarding and at times, challenging. It’s a skilled craft that requires commitment, persistence and understanding.
Because we know this, we understand this craft needs to be nurtured and developed which takes time and investment in our people, deepening the practice through our Thistle Academy, our unique, in-house learning pathway.

“Coming from a care background, the Academy has changed my perspective about my work and how to support people I work with to live their best life, in a way they want.”
Vicky
“My perspective has changed by using the person-centred approach and seeing life differently, from someone else’s point of view.”
