Thistle Academy’s first 10-week training course completes

Today marks the completion of our first Thistle Academy training course for people looking to start or return to work in social care.

A huge congratulations to our seven trainees who graduated at our Centre of Wellbeing and will shortly join their new teams, supporting people across the Edinburgh area.

Thistle Academy Lead, Heather Simmons said, “I’ve loved seeing our first intake of trainees developing and growing throughout the learning process. I’m really proud to see them graduate and move into a team where their skillset, knowledge and experience are a great match for the person they are supporting,”

This 10-week training course is a first in Scotland and was launched in response to the need for long-term social care support. It provides vital training and guidance for those looking to build a career and forms part of Thistle Academy, our learning and development pathway.

Thistle CEO Mark Hoolahan said, “Well done to our graduates and to the team at Thistle who have put together a truly unique and engaging pathway into social care. At Thistle, we really value our Personal Assistants. It takes commitment and is a highly skilled role that provides vital support for people living within our community.

“Thistle Academy is our way of demonstrating our commitment to this role, ongoing learning and development and to tailoring our support to the person, not the condition.”

We are recruiting again. You can find out more about Thistle Academy, here.
