Standard accessible toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability. There are over a 1/4 million people who need Changing Places toilets to enable them to get out and about and enjoy the day-to-day activities many of us take for granted.
That's a lot of people.
Changing Places toilets are different to standard accessible toilets (or "disabled toilets") as they have extra features and more space to meet the needs of people who use them. These include simple but extremely important things such as a non-slip floor, extra space at either side of the toilet, a screen for privacy and a hoist.
When we designed our new Centre of Wellbeing a Changing Places bathroom was our priority. It's the only Changing Place in Craigmillar and is available for anyone to use. And the bright pink bath is really awesome.
