Working Together in Adult Support and Protection

Between 2010 and 2012 Altrum and the University of Stirling ran a research project looking at adult support and protection.

The project sought to gain views of disabled people about how they wanted professionals to act if there were concerns about harm.

From that, we created a range of resources to support professionals to keep supported persons at the centre of the process.

The full suite of documents can be downloaded from this part of the website.

We also produced a series of training videos to support thinking about keeping the person at the centre of any concerns of harm.

“A certain element of risk taking is essential to enrich all our lives, and this project has helped clarify what level of risk disabled people, who depend on support from others, want to have in theirs.”

Diana Paton, Chief Executive of Thistle Foundation and Treasurer of Altrum
