The main aim of this Consultancy Resource is to demonstrate indicators of culture change where practitioners shift from:
- Treating the condition to supporting the person to take control and live their life
- Being the expert to valuing the person as the expert in their life
- Instructing and advising the person to collaborating, sharing skills and building mutually empathic and empowering relationships with the person
The Resource also aims to:
- Introduce the Supported Self Management agenda to statutory and voluntary sector agencies and individual practitioners primarily.
- Increase the number of trained practitioners who include person centred self management support in all their interactions with the people they support.
- Support the development of a learning community where practitioners cascade and share their learning within and beyond their own fields of work.
