We are thrilled to announce that Thistle Foundation has made it through to the final of the Care Accolades 2010, taking place on Friday 11th June in Aviemore. Our Higher Education Certificate (HEC) in Person Centred Approaches has been shortlisted within Category 1 of the awards, ‘Investing in the workforce’.
Diana Paton, Chief Executive of Thistle Foundation, said: “To reach the finals of this year’s Care Accolades is a wonderful recognition of our work. We believe that the HEC delivers real results within the social services spectrum. Our person-centred approach is what makes us stand out as a service provider, and we hope that this will be reflected in the decisions made at the final.”
The Care Accolades celebrate and promote good practice and workforce development in social services. Reaching the final of Scotland’s only awards for social services is a fantastic achievement for Thistle Foundation and we are proud to be recognised for our contribution to social services working in the heart of Scotland’s communities.
An exceptional programme designed by Altrum and delivered by Thistle Foundation in partnership with Queen Margaret University, this accredited HEC aims to meet the challenges of delivering quality support services to vulnerable adults in the 21st century. The course is rooted in the values and principles associated with social inclusion, person-centred working and individualised service delivery. Our teaching promotes the importance of developing the right relationship between the person offering support and the person receiving support. This approach also emphasises the ways in which we can support people to achieve valued social roles in their communities.
Graduates of the course go on to offer truly personalised support to vulnerable people at risk of exclusion within society. These include young people in transition, older people, people who are homeless, disabled or living with a mental health problem, people who have been released from prison and those living in areas of deprivation.
