Making Connections

Our Making Connections event for people we support and their families was a huge success!

Forming part of our Citizenship Strategy, this event was held at our headquarters on Monday 29th March. Over 200 people came from across Scotland to hear from us and some of our partner organisations, Dates-N-Mates, Neighbourhood Networks, Equal Futures and Inspiring Inclusion.

Offering a range of opportunities and initiatives, each speaker truly reflected our belief that life is for living. Here is a bit more information on what each organisation offers:

Dates-N-Mates is an accessible membership-based dating, friendship and networking agency run by and for people with learning disabilities/difficulties.

Neighbourhood Networks facilitates networks of mutual support for vulnerable adults in Lanarkshire, Glasgow and Argyll. The organisation works with people in their neighbourhoods to support each other, to live independently in their own homes and to follow their dreams.

Equal Futures is a decidedly different disability organisation. The organisation is funded and led by families who have chosen to take the initiative to plan and support their disabled relative to enjoy a good life anchored by inclusion and lifelong loving relationships.

Inspiring Inclusion wants to inspire, support and challenge you to live and work in ways that make it more likely that the people we care about and support will live rich and full lives and have their contribution welcomed and valued.

Our Citizenship Strategy embodies all of these ideals, and we are proud to work in partnership with these organisations. We believe that life is for living, and it is our pleasure to celebrate this through events such as Making Connections.
